Kuala Lumpur: The Kitchen Table Bakery and Restaurant

Thursday Travels is a weekly column featuring sights and sounds from my wanderlust adventures. Come, fly with me, and we’ll explore strange cultures, exotic eats and everything in-between.

As the rest of us were hovering indecisively over the selection of cakes, a lone wanderer spotted a parfait sitting on the kitchen counter. She asked what it was, and if she could order one. Sorry, it’s not in the menu – it’s part of the staff meal. Moments later, a female staff appeared, and said we could have the parfait, it’s on the house.

It’s tough pinpointing what I loved most: the warm and friendly staff, the minimalistic kinfolk-ish interior or their ethereal bakes which vanished as soon as they arrived. No wonder some of my fondest memories of KL were formed in this homey cafe far away from city centre.
