The Easter weekend whizzed by with plenty of food and vodka leftover in the fridge. Can someone devise a method that ensures just the right amount of food whenever a potluck is called for? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about the booze.
As the dreadful weather left us feeling sluggish and listless, we headed down to Jewel Coffee‘s new establishment next to Liberty Coffee to perk ourselves up. I especially loved the Shio-Koji Octopoke. Portions are generous, so sharing is advisable.

A trip to Liberty Coffee can be very frustrating, and dangerously addictive at the same time. As much as I crave for the Banana & Toffee Nut Pie (below) — soft, light banana mousse atop sweet, crunchy toffee nuts — there is simply no guessing when the cafe would open its doors again.
We loved everything. Coffee was bold and smooth, and the Chocolate Fudge Cake (below) was perfectly moist and rich, but regrettably ugly (a fault that’s only mine).

This homely cafe lets you want to linger around, sip some coffee, read a book, or play catch-up with long-lost friends. Food was rather average in my opinion, but, here, it’s the ambience that counts.
