Float. Eat. Repeat.

Thursday Travels is a weekly column featuring sights and sounds from my wanderlust adventures. Come, fly with me, and we’ll explore strange cultures, exotic eats and everything in-between.

The best part about staying at Montigo Resorts is the private infinity pool, in which we spent most of the time floating around on an inflatable donut. Although there’s nothing much to do in the resort, I still don’t have time to do everything – specifically, mastering the art of rolling in bed with a beer in hand. Otherwise, life is pretty awesome.

Genesis by Sebastião Salgado

When this exhibition first launched in Singapore, X kept bugging me to go and I’m so glad we did. It shed precious light on the daily life of native tribes and animalistic instincts of wild creatures. The exhibition is ending very soon so if you haven’t seen it yet, hurry!

Gardens by the Bay: Succulents and Cacti

Stepping inside the Flower Dome for the first time can be a daunting experience, with so many things to see at every turn. We found ourselves strangely drawn to the Succulent Garden, despite the absence of bright, flamboyant colours. I imagine these feisty, tenacious plants taking root in vast deserts, embracing the harsh weather. They are almost inspirational in their existence.

Shrove Tuesday

Lately, my motivation to blog hovers stubbornly around the zero percentage point. Why, you may wonder, since I hardly write much anyway. Well, that only means one thing: I desperately need something fresh and exciting to liven up my life.

New cafes continue to pop up all over the island, but they no longer excite me like they used to. That said, the durian ice cream at Shrove Tuesday is praiseworthy and any place with good ice cream is a happy place.
