Nirai Kanai Okinawan Restaurant

Tucked away in one corner of Liang Court, Nirai Kanai Okinawan Restaurant serves authentic okinawan dishes with unassuming nostalgia. We love: simmered pork belly, okinawan seasoned rice onigiri and seaweed tempura. But there are so many other dishes on the menu, one visit simply wouldn’t justify.

  1. Reblogged this on theblurblock-age and commented:
Some months back last year, I went to Okinawa for a media trip. The first impression it gave me was, the people were tanned and bigger built ..unlike the stereotype of other Japanese we have.Their beer is different from the other, one such distinct feature is the beer labels. Their cuisine has the strong Chinese influence. Cucumber with egg, stir-fried poke with vegetable, braised pork that taste like the Chinese Dong Po Rou (东坡肉).

Back in Singapore, there are so many Japanese restaurants but hardly I came across a place that sell Okinawa cuisine — Nirai Kanai. Surrounded by Japanese and hearing them talking, one will feel like you are in Japan again. Do worth giving this place a visit.
